The TEDxJakarta 2011: Journey to Return
Giving you an experience that will take you back; to the past, to your childhood, to common sense, to universal values, and to yourself. There will be 9 inspiring people as speakers: Didik Nini Thowok (cross gender dancer), Jubing Kristianto (acoustic folk guitarist), John Hardy (green entrepreneur), Ewa Wojkowska (innovation connector), Muljadi Pinneng Sulungbudi (underwater photographer), Zaini Alif (traditional games expert), Derek Sivers (music entrepreneur), Siti Musdah Mulia (interfaith peace advocate). Also introducing another inspiring speakers from TEDxJakarta: YOU!

The whole-day event will be held on August 13th, 2011 in Cilandak, South Jakarta (exact venue to be announced to attendees) from 9.00 AM to 5.45 PM (buka puasa provided). It's FREE, but very limited seats!

From our past experience, the limited (free) tickets can be sold out in just 2 days. So plan ahead to be on standby at 8pm because the earlier you register, you have more chance to secure a seat. You are limited to register for 1 (one) seat only.

CIMB Regional Scholarship for Southeast Asians [S]

CIMB Group seeks highly talented individuals who have attained an impressive track record of academic and personal achievements and can see themselves playing a significant role in the development of Southeast Asia.

This year, we are seeking to award scholarships to deserving individuals in two areas: the Arts and Environmental Studies for Master or Doctoral Degree applicants. Application closing date is 3 August 2011.


ELIGIBILITY & SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A citizen of any Southeast Asia country
- Have gained acceptance at a top graduate school to pursue postgraduate degree programme in the fields of study offered at the time when the CIMB Regional Scholarship is awarded
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 or equivalent (for Master’s Degree applicants), or a Master’s Degree with good examiner’s report or equivalent (for Doctoral Degree applicants) that is relevant to the course or field applied for
- Do not hold any other scholarships, awards or grants that come with any contractual obligation between the recipient and the provider
- Relevant work experience, where applicable, is an added advantage.

This is a full scholarship award covering all academic fees such as registration and examination fees, book allowance, as well as other expenses such as accommodation, airfare, travel documents, etc.

HOW TO APPLY
Application must be submitted online via the “Apply For Scholarship Now” link on CIMB site. Information provided will only be used for the purpose of evaluating your application for the CIMB Regional Scholarship. Submission of copies of certificates, commendation letters or any other document is not required at this moment. Only applicants who are shortlisted for the next round of assessment will be required to produce the original copies of relevant documents.

Are you a recent graduate? Do you have passion for and commitment to helping others? Are you looking for a solid, two-year entry-level work experience in a multicultural environment? If so, you may be interested in the World Bank Group's employment category: the Junior Professional Associates or JPA.

In your JPA assignment, you'll use your strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, your knowledge of technology and the web, and your research abilities - working with more senior colleagues and project teams in their operational work. You'll have an opportunity to hone your skills and acquire new ones while gaining first-hand exposure to the challenges of development and poverty alleviation. Your experience as a JPA can then be used as a stepping stone to a career in government, consulting, the private sector, or academia.

What are we looking for?
1) Superior academic achievements (top ten percent of your graduating class)
2) Having analytical and research skills extend to areas of specialization

4) Accustomed to using technology to maximize your work

What are we offering you?
Entry-level professional experience, on a two-year, non-renewable contract with benefits. Positions may be located in any of the Bank's offices across the world.

“Bringing you the third day of TEDGlobal 2011: The Stuff of Life”




This July, TEDxJakarta will bring you a full-day TED experience in the form of a live screening from the third day of TEDGlobal2011: The Stuff of Life. TEDGlobal itself is now held annually in Edinburgh, UK, each summer. In this event, we will be screening never-before-seen talks that are not yet available to public. Speakers from various fields such as techno-illusionist, rational optimist, and even underworld investigator will be sharing their ideas in the topics of: Future Billions, Emerging Order, The Dark Side, and Bodies.

Attending the event
Attendance is free of charge and open to public. No need to register beforehand. Just come on the event day.
As this is a free-flowing event, seating is first come first served. There’s a maximum capacity at the auditorium, so we advise you to come earlier before each session/talk for the best seats. Once each talk in each session begins, doors will be closed. We will provide a screen to watch the talk from outside the auditorium. Once the talk concludes, you can try to get in and find a seat.
